Damaris is looking for sponsors

By | September 1, 2023

Damaris is looking for some sponsor parents who will support her to access education.  She lives with her mother who has some physical disabilities which means working is impossible.  This does not allow for her to send Damaris to school.  Let’s find her some sponsors who will support her through this journey

It has been a while since adding a post, for a variety of reasons but rest assured work has been continuing behind the scenes.

Our children are all doing well, continuing at school, attendance is good and they are achieving well.  We have had one young person graduate from school, a very proud moment for her, her family and for us.

The last year has been particularly difficult for our young people and their families due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.  It has proved to be incredibly tough in many ways, with some being directly affected by the virus.  We are glad to say that all are now well physically but the situation remains stressful financially and emotionally for many.

Insane Terrain

By | July 28, 2018

On the 24th June, a team of people took part as Team Mashi in this event in Doddington.  It was a 5km obstacle race, over haybales, through muddy water and crawling under nets.  Thanks to a lot of support and sponsorship, we raised over £800. My thanks go to Nicole, Hannah, Laura, Dean, Alison and Sarah who all took part.

Chesterton Village College

The students from Chesterton Village College in Cambridge took part in a mufty day to raise funds for the Mashi Foundation.  Thanks to Alison Bigglestone, a group of her students received a presentation about the foundation and how it came about.  They saw photos and heard about the lives of the children living in poverty in Ecuador.  At the end of the session, the students made a key ring using Tagua Nuts provided by Wapa-Wapa.  Following this session, the school offered to do a mufty day and so all the students paid to wear their own clothes on Friday 4th May.  This raised a massive amount of £653.08.  We are very grateful to Alison, Lucy Scott and the students of the school.

Insane Terrain – go team Mashi!

By | February 9, 2018

We have 6 people so far who are taking part in an event called Insane Terrain in June.  The event is a 5k run with obstacles along the way, lots of mud and water too.

The team are doing this to raise some funds for Mashi which will enable us to provide a little more for each child and potentially sponsor another to go to school.

We are very grateful for their support. If you would like to support them on this venture by making a donation please follow this link

Sad news of our former trustee

By |

It is with great sadness that I share the news that Steve Griffiths passed away.  He was an integral part of the setting up of the charity and was heavily involved in the planning of projects and fundraising.  He stepped down from being a trustee as he moved away from the area.  We were all very saddened to hear he passed away.

We are very grateful for all of his hard work and commitment he showed to the charity.  Our thoughts and best wishes go to his family and friends.

Help for Cynthia

By | April 3, 2017

We have been contacted by our volunteer in Patate about a little girl who needs our help.

Cynthia suffers from tonic-clonic epileptic seizures where she loses consciousness suddenly.  This is followed by stiffness in her hands and legs.

She is currently in hospital and her family have no money to pay for any treatment or the therapy she desperately needs.

If you feel you could help in any way, please click on the donate tab to make a donation to her medical care. Thank you,

Merry Christmas….Feliz Navidad

By | December 14, 2016

At the end of another year, we look back fondly on the achievements of all the children we have supported.  We are very proud that they have continued to attend school, enjoying their time in education and so keen to learn.

We really hope to be able to continue this into 2017.

Thank you to everyone who has been involved in the charity in some way this year, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
